The history of the Int. GS Trophy began in Tunisia. After this pure and vast country the story continued with the second Int. GS Trophy ever in South Africa in 2010.
The second BMW Motorrad Int. GS Trophy took place in South Africa. A unique event to duly celebrate the 30th anniversary of the BMW Motorrad GS. For South Africa is, without question, one of the best regions in the world for a ride with a BMW Motorrad GS.
10 teams from 13 nations fought for the victory on an approximately 2000 kilometre long route across South Africa, Swaziland and Mozambique. In doing so, the participants had to pass numerous special challenges. Among them exhausting river crossings, demanding rides through the forrest as well as long and deep mud passages.
On the “Follow the Trails” we will visit South Africa and Swaziland. Leaving Johannesburg by shuttle, we will start our journey at the Country Trax facility by taking over our R1250GS bikes. We will have early mornings to go into the game reserves and maybe see the “Big 5” or ride until the sunset on tracks through the steppe.
The trails to the Indian Ocean and back cover everything an adventurer is seeking for. Pure wildlife, the ocean, riding on sand tracks on the African continent, crossing the forrest and have traditional “Braai” at night. Be aware that this adventure is totally off the beaten track and will challenge us physically in any way.
